Written Exam Question Format
Starting in April 2025, the ABO Written Examination will contain 10-25% Multi-Select Questions.
The remaining questions on the exam will be multiple-choice. Multi-select questions are formatted similarly to multiple-choice questions but will require examinees to select more than one correct answer. For these questions, discrete instructions will be provided meaning that the number of correct answers the examinee is expected to choose will be provided. This gives candidates clear expectations when interacting with the content ensuring clarity during evaluation.
- Multi-select questions will be scored dichotomously (same as multiple choice).
- Candidates are awarded one point for selecting the correct options.
- There are two scoring outcomes: 0/1. No partial credit is awarded.
- This model ensures that candidates demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the content before receiving credit for a question.
